I am one of the daughters of Joan and Pete Kazounis, creators of the Francesca Doll Co. A 40 yr. family business that hand manufactured museum quality fine porcelain dolls in our own studio's located in the historic district of Wakefield R.I which are still in operation today. I was encouraged very early to create art, and I was able to explore many different mediums. In 1984 I was accepted into the Pratt Institute with a full scholarship, with sculptures in porcelain and stoneware.

From 1994-1998 I opened my own studio gallery in Newport, R.I (the sunroom gallery) where I primarily focused on painting. My art has always been multifaceted and encompasses a wide range themes. I mainly freelance my work now, which I love the flexibility, I can do many different styles for different places. I am always working on something and I am constantly inspired by nature and living close to the beach and of course my 7 yr old boy.

Recently Maria as put her teaching skills to good use by opening a business that hosts “Art Parties” for children, businesses for team-building, and “Girls Night Out” themes. Each session includes a make it and take it.
